Recently launched website Oakland Crimespotting is an “interactive map of crimes in Oakland CA and a better way of understanding crime in cities. The map is completely explorable allowing users to pan, zoom, select date ranges, view specific types of crime and share links to particular views of the map.
Crimespotting uses data published on CrimeWatch, the city’s community crime mapping website. Once a day, fresh crime reports are collect from CrimeWatch and saved to their database.
