The Planning Commission has made recommendations regarding the 2007 Public Review Draft of the Zoning Ordinance. The City Council is tentatively scheduled to hold their first workshop/study session on October 15, 2007.
El Cerrito’s General Plan (last revised in 1999) lays out direction for the future evolution and growth of the City, covering issues such as the type and intensity of future development, transportation, parks and recreation, community design, and housing. The Zoning Ordinance, Zoning Map, and Subdivision Code are the three key documents that implement the General Plan. The Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map are currently being updated.
