
Albany may get a new grocery store in a few years — if a proposed project on University Village land is approved by the city.
The University of California submitted an application to the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission earlier this month for a project that would involve the sale of a portion of its land at San Pablo Avenue and Monroe Street.
The land would house a development with a grocery store — a Whole Foods according to a city staff report — and a second mixed-use building containing senior housing and retail space.
